Last weekend I had the opportunity to hang out with a lot of talented authors (mostly self-published) at an Author's conference sponsored by Infinity Publishing. I enjoyed meeting everyone and learning more about their book stories and the challenges they face as self-published authors. I was surprised by how many novelists there were!
One of the highlights for me was meeting Dan Poynter, the "Father of Self-Publishing" (that's us in the photo).
As I explained to Dan, his Self-Publishing Manual was the first book I read on self-publishing and it's pages are all dog-eared and marked with post-it note flags (I wish I had thought to bring it with me to have him sign). It sits on my shelf for reference. I told him I originally read it as research for an author I was working with, but it inspired me to create my own publishing company.
Not only did I get to hear his key-note presentation on "Writing Addiction", I sat at his table at dinner and was delighted by his wit.
It was a great time and I feel invigorated in both my writing and publishing pursuits. Thanks Dan and everyone I met at the Conference (especially you Fern)!
