Thank goodness - the medical test results are in and we finally know what killed King Tut. It only took 3,300 years. (I felt like I've waited that long for results on more than one occasion.)
He died of a broken leg due to complications brought on by malaria. I wonder if he is going to have problems with his health insurance about that. Obviously, before his fall - malaria was a pre-existing condition. And more than that, the boy king was already frail - born with a cleft palate and club foot which means he most likely walked with a cane. So he also could have met the ceiling of his benefits and may have been cut off from payments if they considered the fall due to the condition he already had. Also, it took two years of DNA testing and CT scans to reach this conclusion. I'm sure, some of those procedures could be deemed experimental which could also lead to non-payment of benefits.
I'm glad I live in an age of enlightenment about health care. Wait! Darn it - I think we are still hampered by some insurers for the same reasons. If nothing else is able to be passed in changing health care in the U.S. - it seems a no brain-er that pre-existing conditions should be banned. And perhaps toss in not allowing benefits being stopped half way through treatments which could be a death sentence or force bankruptcy filing for families.
I sure hope it doesn't take another 3,000 years to help the average hard working family.
Getting off my soap box - (hope I don't take a fall) - some sweet Valentine thoughts.
I gave a shout out to our 7 year old granddaughter, Savanah, when she won a town wide writing contest. Now I'd like to share the poem written for us on Valentine's day by our 8 year old granddaughter, Emily.
TO GRAMMIE AND GRANDPA
It doesn't matter how old you are
To me you will always be a star.
You are great and you are fun -
You shine bright like the sun.
I love you both that much is true
So with this card I say
I LOVE YOU!
